Santa will cap Colfax Christmas

Ol' Saint Nick starts his annual tour of Whitman County with an appearance in the Colfax Chamber of Commerce lighted Christmas parade next Thursday, Dec. 2.

Santa's roll down Mill Street caps the 5:30 p.m. parade and precedes the flurry of fireworks that will blast off next to the Big Blue water tank on the east hill.

Restaurants and businesses up and down Main Street will be open late to kick off holiday shopping.

Epicenter of the celebration will be the Colfax Library.

Preceding the parade, Santa will collect the Christmas wishes of area youngsters at the library. Beginning at 3 p.m., Scholz Photography will be on hand to take pictures with the old elf in front of the Christmas Tree.

Elberton's musicians John Elwood and Sally Burkhart will play classic holiday selections on Elwood's famous hand-crafted instruments in the library from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Activities for youth will be held in the library from 10 a.m. to noon.
