Short closed door session

Colfax City Council members Monday night conducted a short executive session on the Ralph Walter controversy. City Attorney Bruce Ensley called the short session at the end of the meeting, and the council took no action after it concluded.

Ross White, Spokane attorney who represented Walter in his appeal before the city’s civil service board, asked the council at its previous session to begin discussion, possibly through mediation, on alleged losses sustained by Walter. The fire chief was reinstated by Mayor Norma Becker before the second day of the appeal hearing.

Ensley said as of Tuesday, the city has not received any claim from White.

Also Monday night, a bill for the past month’s services from Evans, Craven and Lackie, the Spokane law firm which represented the city in the Oct. 6-7 civil service session, was not listed for payment because the city had not received one.
