County to buy quarry

Whitman County plans to buy the Gnaedinger rock quarry north of Palouse. Public Works Director Mark Storey told commissioners Monday the county has leased the quarry for years, but the Gnaedinger family now wants to sell the nine-acres. Although negotiations are ongoing, the purchase price will likely cost the county less than lease payments.
