Church at Hay will offer hunters’ breakfast, lunch

Dust, cobwebs and spiders were flying at the church in Hay Saturday, Oct. 9. Dionne Evans, Bev Dodge and Jeannine Larkin were cleaning the kitchen and downstairs preparing for the hunters’ breakfast and lunch which will be served Oct. 23 at the church. The last hunters’ lunch was more than 30 years ago.

Sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs, juice, hot chocolate and coffee will be served for breakfast and chili, cornbread and dessert for lunch. A multi-family yard sale will also be offered. Funds raised will be used to continue renovations on the historical church. Breakfast hours will be 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Jennifer Stamper-Dickson of Bellingham was the guest of honor at a baby shower Sunday. The hostesses were Stacy Aune, Rochelle Wigen of Spokane, and Jennifer’s sister, Danielle Halverson of Redondo Beach, Calif. Baby Dickson is due in mid- December and will be the first grandchild of Tim and Debbie Stamper.

The DC kids will be at the rest stop at Highways 26 and 395 on the weekend of Oct. 16. The DC Kids have several fundraisers planned over the next few months in an effort to raise money for a trip planned to Washington, D.C. in June. The itinerary includes many historical and educational tours and is an opportunity of a lifetime for the kids.

Salad bowls, one casserole dish, baking dishes, a cookie sheet and utensils have been left from funeral receptions during the summer and fall. They have been collected at the Jasper Truck office and can be claimed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Unclaimed items will be donated to the Community Club or the Community Outreach.

Washtucna FFA is taking orders for Krispy Kreme donuts at $10 per dozen. Delivery date is Friday, Oct. 15. They will also be on sale during the football game. Place an order with any FFA member.

Washtucna’s senior class will sell hot dogs at Friday’s football game in Washtucna.

LaCrosse Business Association met recently to plan the annual Halloween chili feed and costume contest. The free chili feed sponsored by the association will begin at 4:30 p.m. The costume contest is sponsored by Jasper Trucking and judging of age group entries will begin at 5 p.m. Both the feed and costume contest will be on Halloween, Sunday, Oct. 31, at the TeaPot Café.
