Comedian will return for benefit

LaCrosse Community Pride grocery store board of directors has selected a roofing company to install a new roof on the store building. Work is anticipated to begin around Sept. 18.

Comedian Leif Skyvig will return to LaCrosse Oct. 2 to entertain an adult dinner crowd. Mr. Skyvig was a hit at an earlier show and is back by popular demand. Happy hour will be from six until seven with dinner served at seven. The show will begin at 8 p.m. and last 90 minutes. Tickets will be available for the show and dinner or for each individual event.

The proposed floor plan of the store will be unveiled at the dinner show. Plans are also in the works to sell commemorative tiles which will be displayed on a wall in the store. The wall is being designed to also display historical photos of LaCrosse and the surrounding areas.

LaCrosse Outreach Thrift Store announced new hours beginning Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and the first and second Saturday of the month. Proceeds support the local food bank and holiday baskets.

School is back in full swing. Last Thursday evening was the open house and more than 130 were served a hamburger dinner. After dinner the teachers and classroom were all available for visits.

The book fair started that evening and will run through Sept. 3.

Today, Thursday, students in grades 6-12 will travel to the ropes course to start the year out with team building.

The football team will travel to Riggins, Idaho, Friday, Sept. 3, for their opening game, and the volleyball season will begin with an away match in Palouse next Wednesday, Sept. 8. Junior High girls have begun basketball practice in preparation for their first game Sept. 16 in LaCrosse against SJE.
