Store building will get roof

LaCrosse

LaCrosse Community Pride Grocery Store has officially become a State of Washington Corporation. An application has been filed with the IRS. for non profit status which will provide tax deductions for donors.

A decision has been made to install a new roof on the store building. Five separate roofing companies determined the roof was beyond repair. This project will be completed before winter weather prevents installation. A cleanup day involving the store basement has been scheduled for Friday, Aug. 27. The awning will also be removed and added to the salvaged metal which will be sold and added to the fund raising effort.

Fifteen children completed the summer reading program at LaCrosse Library. They fulfilled their pledges to read 10 books or ten hours during June and July.

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our community. Programs offered at Whitman County Library branches are funded by donations. The money given to LaCrosse stays there and goes directly to providing supplies to the children’s programs.

LaCrosse library supporters are Ruth Dorman, Eddie Thompson, Cheree Thompson, Cindy Andrus, Startin’s Repair, and volunteers are Anna Roberts, Jazlynn Webb, Brittany Gordon, and Teresa Casey.

The Town of LaCrosse allows the library children use of city hall for programs.

Regular hours are Mondays 1-5 and Thursdays 10-2. Storytime programs will begin on Thursday, Sept. 16, at 10:30. The LaCrosse Library’s Adult and Teen Summer Reading program ends August 31.
