Rosalia

Rosalia’s fair queen candidate Mattie Eberle began selling wristbands for the Palouse Empire Fair last week at the Texaco Station. Helping Mattie sell tickets were sisters Reginnah and Lynsey and Don Kackman.

Rosalia Association for Community Enrichment (RACE) has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Northwest Area Foundation, based in St. Paul, Minn., for projects to improve the community. RACE is a non-profit organization that has worked to enhance the community through volunteer work and special projects.

The group has been instrumental in helping to organize the twice-monthly flea market at the Pinewood Cottage. Members have also helped renovate the town’s Performing Arts Center, the former Rosalia Christian Church. They have helped raise funds to pay for the new roof that was installed last spring.

For information, or to donate to RACE, residents can contact Treasurer Amanda Rich at richpamanda@aol.com.

Rosalia Motorcycle Rally Association will hold a street dance Saturday night to raise funds for reviving the Rosalia motorcycle rally next year.

Hillyard classic rock band Nighthawk will play on a closed-off section of Whitman Street. The dance will run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission is $5, with proceeds going into the fund for next year’s rally.

Mattie Eberle, Rosalia’s candidate for the Miss Palouse Empire Fair pageant, began selling fair admission wristbands last week at the Texaco Station. They are $15 for adults and $5 for children.
