Approximately 300 friends and family attended the outdoor wedding and reception Saturday of Katy Tellessen, daughter of Dave and Kathy Tellessen of Spokane, and Justin Heaton, son of Blake and Carmen Heaton of Dusty. The ceremony was performed in a gazebo specially built for the couple by the bride’s father, and situated on the lawn outside the home of the groom’s parents. Gifts for the bridal couple were placed in the bed of a ‘48 Dodge pickup owned and restored by Dwayne Normington, Hay, who also built a wagon to hold cards.

In her bouquet, the bride carried an antique silver luggage tag already engraved with the couple’s initials, presented to her by her new mother-in-law. The reception was catered by Memorable Events of St. John. Special guests included the bride’s grandparents from Spokane, the groom’s grandmother and uncle, Emily and Richard Alexander from Tacoma, brother and family, Christopher, Erika, Miss Blayke and Justus Heaton from Glendale, Ariz., and sister Heather Reynoso and sons Valente, Jeronimo and Xico of Mexico City. The couple resides on Big Alkali Road.

The highlight of the week was touring the aircraft carrier Midway, now a museum docked in San Diego harbor. On the way home, they stopped in Sacramento to spend an afternoon with Colene’s uncle, Don Records, and spent the night in San Jose with Art’s cousin and her husband, Larry and Ellen Williams. The Sagers returned home Monday.

Sunday, Karen Broeckel joined Gwen and Jason Nolan and Cliff and Jeanette Nolan, Colfax, and Patty and Rick Wieber, Spokane, at the stateline racetrack to watch Greg Nolan thoroughly enjoy checking one off his “bucket list” goals by learning to drive a stock car through the Competitive Edge Racing School. The group later enjoyed a celebratory lunch at Red Robin.

Recently, Barb and Bruce Wollstein stayed with Barb’s parents, Dick and Helen Appel, while they attended 30-year school reunions. Barb graduated from Colfax High School and Bruce graduated from Pullman High School.

The following week, Deb and Bob Stavig stayed with the Appels, her parents, when picking up their son Scott from basketball camp at Gonzaga University.
