Hospital highlights - Nutrition help available

Do you need to get control of your cholesterol or high blood pressure? Do you have diabetes? Maybe your blood sugars are inching up and you have been told you are “pre-diabetic?”

If you answered yes, WHMC has a registered dietitian on staff who can work with you to develop a nutrition plan tailored to your individual needs. Outpatient nutrition services offers education and counseling to adults and children to meet individual needs including, but not limited to, congestive heart failure, diabetes, eating disorders, failure to thrive, food allergies, heart disease, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, hypertension, gastrointestinal disorders, kidney disease and weight management.

Many of our dietitian’s services are covered by private insurance with a doctor’s referral. Please refer to your health policy or contact your insurance company to determine your specific coverage. Medicare covers outpatient nutritional services for diabetes, kidney disease and post renal transplant patients. Medicaid covers some services. WHMC also welcomes patients who pay privately.

If you think you may benefit from a professionally developed nutrition plan that is customized for you, contact your health care provider for a referral to WHMC.
