School buses hit by small boys

Two small boys have been apprehended in the Colfax school bus vandalism case. Chief Bill Hickman said part of the investigation in the case evolved from shoe prints found at the scene. The boys, who are in the 6-7 age bracket, will not face juvenile court charges because of their age, but their parents could be liable for reimbursement to the district’s insurer. Damages from the vandalism at last report was in the $20,000 range.

Nine school buses which were parked inside the fence at the bus garage, were damaged the night of June 12-13 right after the last day of school. Rocks were found inside some of the buses. In some cases, entry was made into the buses and fire extinguishers inside the buses were apparently used to knock out the windows.

Officer Perry Tate investigated.
