Poets at Dahmen barn

Palouse Country Poetry Association will perform at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown July 31 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Admission will be $7 at the door. They will recite poems the members have written as well as old favorites.

Hospital foundation taps Kimberly DeHart

Kimberly DeHart of Colfax has been hired as coordinator for Whitman Community Hospital Foundation, a part-time position to coordinate foundation activities, donations and planned giving, according to Linda Marler, president of the foundation board of directors. Now employed at McGregor Co., she has been active in community affairs and served as president of the Colfax Chamber of Commerce.

Carol Stueckle of Colfax served as foundation coordinator for 17 years and was commended for her service to the foundation by the foundation board.

Wick son born

A boy, Jagger Wick, was born July 12, 2010, to Erik Wick and Angela Wick of Spokane Valley. Maternal grandparents are Ron and Dawn Dennison, Colfax. Maternal great-grandparents are Kelly and Angela Nickell, Colfax. Paternal grandparents are Julie Wick, Atlanta, Ga., and Doug and Lainy Wick, Mooresville, N.C. Paternal great-grandparents are Bob and Ruth Bafus, Colfax and Don and Gini Wick Pasco. Weighing eight pounds, 14 ounces at birth, the baby joins brother, Jaxon Wick.

The July meeting of the Friends of Whitman County Library has been cancelled so the group can focus their attention on the upcoming grand re-opening of the Colfax Library.

Summer Reading programs come to an end this week. Join librarians Sheri Miller and Nichole Kopp along with The Noise Guy at Eells Park in Colfax today, Thursday, July 22 at 1 p.m.

Summer Reading completion logs can be turned in for goody bags beginning July 22. Children are encouraged to pick up their prizes before the library closes for maintenance August 2-8.

Next Pajama Storytime is set for July 28 at 7 p.m. This program is another fun way kids can celebrate the summer.
