LaCrosse school staffers receive award

LaCrosse teacher Wendy Fleming, Principal Doug Curtis and teacher Kermit Wigen, from the left, attended an eastside awards banquet in Spokane last week, in honor of the school’s recent receipt of a Washington Achieve-ment Award. LaCrosse was one of 174 schools in the state honored May 5. Colton, Garfield/Palouse and Tekoa also received the award. Both the LaCrosse elementary and high school were recognized for being in the top five percent of districts statewide for improving student achievement as measured by multiple assessment criteria.

“This award is the result of wonderful community support for our school system and is a result of many years of hard work and dedication on the part of each and every teacher and staff member in our school,” LaCrosse Supt. Gary Wargo said.
