Foundation raises thousands

Whitman Community Hospital Foundation raised about $20,000 Saturday evening at its 20th annual dinner and auction at Hill-Ray Plaza. About 100 people attended the event which began with a social hour and silent auction and progressed to a five course meal with a live auction.

Jeff Geier was the master of ceremonies, and Butch Booker was the auctioneer. Al Kirkpatrick and Mark Vogler assisted with the auction.

Auction items included vacations, quilts, dinners, collectibles and many other items donated by local businesses and individuals.

Bruce Ensley outbid others on the most expensive item, a week at a lake cabin. It was donated Dr. Mark Parsons.

The foundation earnings and investments are put to use in the event the hospital has unexpected expenses. The foundation also contributes to special projects. Most recently it donated $200,000 to renovate the Therapy Department during the hospital’s last building project.

The hospital staff are thankful for such great community support. The foundation is led by its President Linda Marler, Vice President Mark Vogler, Secretary Shirley Walker and Treasurer Teri Heilsberg.
