Library gives job search training

Two classes are now offered by Whitman County Library’s Occupational Resource Connection (WORC) to help residents in the process of a job search or those considering a career change.

The first class will teach participants how to best utilize computers for successful job searches. Presenters will review the basics of the job search process, assist with cover letters and resumes, teach the set up and use of email and also, how to store documents online. High-speed Internet computers will be available for all participants.

The second class called Job Search Tools will introduce the WORC Career Program website, a portal into on-line resources in the areas of career exploration, education and training, applications, resumes and cover letters, interviewing and community resources.

The WORC classes are part of Renew Washington, a program funded by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation through the Washington State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

Initial workshops are scheduled as follows:

Computer Basics in Rosalia Thursday, Jan. 28, 1-3 p.m.

Computer Basics in Colton Monday, Feb. 1, 2:30-4 p.m.

Computer Basics in Endicott Tuesday, Feb. 2, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Computer Basics and Job Search Tools in Garfield Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Computer Basics, Neill Public Library. Pullman Tuesday, Feb. 9, 4-5:30 p.m.

Job Search Tools, Neill, Pullman,Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 4-5:30 p.m.

Computer Basics and Job Search Tools in Colfax Friday, Feb. 12, 1-3 p.m.
