Officers inspect the scene of a collision between a semi-truck and Daniel Larson’s 2008 Ford Taurus on North Main Street in Colfax, just south of Subway, Saturday afternoon.

Colfax Officer Robert Wride said Larson, 55, Endicott, was forced off Main Street at the Y intersection by a semi truck driven by James Decker, 44, Desert Hot Springs, Calif.

Larson’s Taurus struck a concrete-filled sign base at the parking lot of the former NAPA store lot.

Carol Larson, also of Endicott, who was a passenger in the Taurus, was taken by ambulance to Whitman Hospital and Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

She was released after treatment.

Decker and Daniel Larson were unhurt. Wride’s report said Decker was driving a 2009 Freightliner southbound on Highway 195 at 12:30 a.m.

and, failing to see the no lane change sign, drove the semi into the curbside lane at the same time the Larsons were driving onto 195 from Highway 26.

Larson attempted to avoid the truck by driving into the parking lot but was unable to avoid the sign base.

Decker was cited by police for an improper lane change.
