Christmas needs have grown for Giving Tree project

Colfax Community Action Center is seeing a sharp increase in the need for Christmas presents and Christmas dinners this holiday season.

Giving Tree requests total 111 this year, up from 73 in 2008. Also, 101 families have put in a request for a Christmas dinner, versus 73 last year, CAC Administrator Gail Webster said.

“We’re just seeing more people, and their hours are being cut or they’ve lost jobs,” Webster said.

Two CAC giving trees are located in Colfax, one at the Post Office and one at U.S. Bank.
