County taps Ken Jacobs for planning panel

Outgoing Rosalia Mayor Ken Jacobs was appointed by county commissioners Monday to a four-year term on Whitman County’s planning commission. Jacobs will represent county district one.

“Ken will come to us with a wealth of experience,” said Greg Partch, commissioner for district one. “He has an extensive background in agriculture and a great knowledge of government workings.”

Jacobs’ term as Rosalia mayor expires at the end of the year. He has served as mayor since 2002 and also was Rosalia mayor from 1982 to 1990 and 1994 to 1996.

His term on the planning commission will expire Dec. 31, 2013.

One vacancy remains on the planning commission. Members serve without pay.
