A group of fifth grade students in Rosalia placed in the top three nationally in an agricultural competition. In 17 years of Haunted Palouse, town organizations have raised $651,724.68. The total includes the 2018 record single-year net of $70,603.48. Top beneficiary of the annual two-weekends in October event is the Palouse Community Center, built in 2011, with loans being paid off, in part by $213,316.39 from Haunted Palouse. Colton school is raffling off a grandfather clock, handmade by Terri Frei, with $1 tickets sold at basketball games and at the school office. The clock is made from black walnut wood cut and milled locally, then dried for two years. Proceeds from the raffle benefit the fifth and sixth grade trip to the McCall Outdoor Science School. The National Lentil Festival is accepting submissions for the 2019 commemorative poster design. Entries can be submitted in any form the artist deems appropriate. Artwork not selected will be returned. Entrants are asked to keep the tradition of including a bug in the poster design. The selected artist will receive $1,500 as compensation and will work with the festival director and committee during to develop the final idea.
