Cartlong was employed on the McCarkle threshing outfit when it was engaged on Newton Gibson's ranch, about six miles east of Colfax.     Lorraine J. Joslin (nee Semler), aged 97, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018, at Pioneer Place Memory Haven near Puyallup, Wash. She was in the presence of dear family members and had her favorite waltz music playing in the room. She succumbed to long-standing illness with diabetes and the inscrutable, gradual decline of Alzheimer's-related mental disease. She passed away November 24, 2018, at her home in Greenbank on Whidbey Island to her heavenly eternal home. She was 57 years old.     The funeral service for Guy C. Parkman, 84, retired Pullman teacher and coach who had resided in Albion since 1962, was Friday at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Mr. Parkman died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at his home in Albion. Mr. Parkman began teaching science and biology at Pullman High School in 1961.     The December shutdown of Highway 26 has taken a big toll on Hatton. The small Adams County town is located southwest of the Highway 26 bridge across the Burlington Northern Santa Fee tracks. Work on the bridge deck started Oct. 15 and Highway 26 was blocked off. The Hatton and Cunningham roads intersect Highway 26 on the west side of the bridge.     Makayla Morrison, 21, Colfax, has been summoned to appear in superior court Dec. 14 after she was charged with three counts of identity theft. Morrison is charged with using credit card identification from two other people to make purchases at Rosauers. According to the arrest report, Morrison initially said one of two alleged victims allowed her to use her credit card, but later confessed after confronted with additional investigation information.     Completion date for the Highway 26 bridge deck project west off Highway 395 has again been extended, the Department of Transportation reported this week. Cold temperatures have extended the time needed for new rails on the bridge to cure. “The temperature situation makes the exact date difficult to determine,” said Jeff Adamson, DOT's spokesman for the North Central District Wenatchee.     Hunter Haley, 25, was formally charged with six counts of second-degree theft Nov. 26 in superior court. Three of the charges relate to alleged thefts from the first alleged victim to report a vehicle prowl in Rosalia Nov. 18.
