  • Fantastic job

    Oct 25, 2018

We have all heard how some have the personality to do a good job. John Hart has the personality to do a good job and be fair. Whitman County District Court needs more than a judge with personality. The fact that he is endorsed by current Judge to District Court Douglas Robinson and previous Judge to District Court and Superior Court David Frazier should be the best reason to know John Hart is the right choice. He has done and will continue to do a fantastic job for our court and Whitman County. --Kayla Brink, Garfield...

  • Careful consideration

    Oct 25, 2018

I have worked for Whitman County District Court for the past two years as court clerk, but served as the court administrator for the Colfax Municipal Court for 17 years. It is there where I first had the pleasure to meet and work with Judge John Hart when he began serving as the public defender in 2005. He was awarded the contract due to his reputation and dedication serving the Whitman County District Court. In 2012, he was appointed Colfax municipal court judge. Working closely as part of Judge Hart's team, I have had the unique opportunity...

  • Real results

    Oct 25, 2018

I think one could say that I am a Tom Foley fan, big time. Here was a man that was able to work with both sides of the aisle and get tangible results that benefitted all residents of the fifth district and beyond. He along with Bob Dole were able to work up a farm bill that benefitted a lot of folks down here in the Palouse. He delivered: the Tom Foley Highway from Ritzville to Pasco, he delivered a number of buildings on campus at WSU for the Vet. School, he along with Henry Jackson and Warren Magunson delivered the Intercollegiate College...

  • Experience

    Oct 25, 2018

Rob Rembert is hometown grown in the Palouse. His family goes back 129 years when his ancestors arrived in 1889. He has 16 years devoted to community service in the Palouse and 22 years of experience in a local general law practice. While those are nice facts, we write to address his temperament and knowledge of the law. His experience in many areas of law, outweighs that of his opponent. Rob has a deeper understanding of the law from a working knowledge of its application. His areas of expertise include the following: Landlord-Tenant Law, Prem...

  • Down-to-Earth

    Oct 25, 2018

My husband, Ross, and I have had the pleasure of calling Rob Rembert and his wife, Jeannine, our friends. When Rob announced he was running for Whitman County District Court Judge, I did not hesitate to support him as I know his character and believe that he will be a fair and impartial judge. Rob is a real, down-to-earth human being. He is honest, calm, trustworthy, confident, and is not swayed by intimidation. You can trust that Rob will treat everyone, whether you come from the farm or university, with the same dignity and respect. He has a...

  • Demand Comes Before Supply

    Frank Watson, Gazette Columnist|Oct 25, 2018

I was reading a book the other day with the television as background noise. The book wasn’t very good, so I was waiting for something other than a political ad when a statement caught my ear. I can usually ignore statements I disagree with, but this one was a bit much. It told the listening audience that we need to get big oil to pay for the pollution they caused. I guess it caught my attention because it is illogical twice! First, big oil won’t pay for anything. They are not the source of money. The customers who pay for their products are...

Colfax was primed last Wednesday, Oct. 17, to meet the ESPN crew which rolled south through town on the way to their Saturday morning GameDay production at Washington State University. Two of the lead buses featured ESPN markings and the rest appeared to be charters. The convoy was escorted by a black squad car. The convoy was greeted by WSU flag wavers who had waited two to three hours for ESPN to roll through town at about 2 p.m. Colfax greeters were linked to a flag crew at Papé north of town, which vowed to alert Colfax when the convoy...
