    Linda Hennigar attended the Benton/Franklin County Fair last Tuesday through Thursday. Her grandson Wesley Banks, who showed his lamb at the fair, earned a blue ribbon. Gracia Stueckle, Seattle, spent the weekend with her sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Norm Erickson and Goldie and Al Foss. After enduring many months of health problems, Blake Heaton continues to show improvement. He has gained back some of the weight he had lost.     A big crowd, great weather and close competition provided a solid day of racing when the USSBA sprint boats made the second summer stop at Webb’s Slough in St. John. The race drew 30 boats on the program with the largest entry in the Super Modified class where 19 boats were on the bill.     Salmon River, the team from the high country of Idaho, will visit LaCrosse Friday for a non-league round to start the new season. The Idaho team arrives this year after the third-place finish in Idahos IA division finals. Five players graduated off that team.     Coach Jamie Kinley has 12 runners out for the new cross-country season with senior Morgan Willson returning for her third run at the state finals. Willson won the state race at the Sun Willows golf course in Pasco as a sophomore and placed second last year as a junior to Sierra Speiker, a freshman for Oroville.     National Lentil Festival Snap Fitness Tase T. Lentil 5K Fun Run Aug. 20 had a record 360 runners and walkers. Runners were awarded by gender for prizes in six age categories. In the Men’s category, winner for the under 19 years category was Aaron Haugen with a time of 17:41.     The first results are coming in on a new fee policy at Washington State Parks, including those at Steptoe Butte and Palouse Falls. The Discover Pass, instituted by the state legislature earlier this year after funding cuts, is a pass that is required of all motorized vehicles visiting a park for more than 15 minutes.     A final count of the Aug. 16 primary election added 42 votes to the count with results from early counts. Tom Kammerzell of Colfax kept a close lead over Al Sorenson of Pullman in the district three port seat. Kammerzell finished with a 17-vote lead, 904 for Kammerzell and 887 for Sorenson.
