    Four Honn family John Deere combines harvest ground as part of a harvest bee held on the family’s land over the weekend. An impressive collection of farm implements was outdone only by the collection of friends and neighbors that helped the Honn family harvest its fields over the weekend.     Whitcom could face a serious cut to its funding unless Whitman County commissioners place an additional twenty cent tax on phone bills. Commissioners Monday began discussion of whether or not to institute the new tax, a requirement of a law passed by the legislature last session. “We don’t have any other choice. We are being held hostage,” said Commissioner Greg Partch.   • Bid $453,655: County gets four bids for elections office job

    James Elmore Construction, Spokane, was the lowest of four bidders to build Whitman County’s new elections office. Elmore quoted a price of $453,655 to remodel part of the county-owned building at the corner of Main and Upton Streets into the new elections office. The building last housed Greg’s Electric. Bob Reynolds, county facilities manager, estimated total cost of the project at more than $600,000.     Judge William Acey of Asotin dismissed Monday Roger Whitten’s petition to recall Whitman County commissioners Pat O’Neill and Greg Partch. O’Neill and Partch said they can now move ahead with county business without the dark cloud of a recall hanging over them.
