    Oakesdale Oakesdale School will host their annual art festival and spring music concert Thursday evening at the school. Bridge Club was hosted by Nina Gregory at the Feeding Station in Tekoa last Thursday. Winning high prize was Wanda Brown, second high June Crow, traveling Theresa Lohman and Bingo Penny Rickett.     Empire Fling prices The Empire Theatre and Cafe Artisan of Tekoa will present the “1st Annual Spring Fling”, a music, food, and wine event, Friday, May 13, starting at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $17 ($20 at the door of Cafe) and include music and tapas/hors d’oeuvres.     Dusty John Brink, son of Larry and Di Brink, and Brandi Amsden, daughter of Ed and Brenda Getz and Jack Amsden, were married Saturday afternoon in an outdoor ceremony on the Brink family farm on Little Alkili Road south of Dusty. The reception was in the recently renovated historical Brink barn. More than 200 guests attended.     Wanda Alderman, left, and Marianne Mitchell pull Kathie Anderson’s winning ticket in the raffle drawing to assist renovaton of the Endicott Library during the Friends of the Library’s meeting May 3. Anderson, Endicott, won the grand prize, a McGregor outdoor fireplace. Judy Arneson, also of Endicott, and Jeanette Burton of Coeur d’Alene won $100 Rosauers gift certificates.   • Saturday crosswalk accident takes life of Mary Ann Largent

    A vehicle-pedestrian accident on Main Street Saturday afternoon took the life of Mary Ann Largent, 76, long-time Colfax resident and former Onecho area farm woman. Mrs. Largent died at Whitman Hospital shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday from injuries sustained when she was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Main Street. Police Chief Bill Hickman said Mrs. Largent was hit at 3:35 p.m. while she was in the crosswalk between The Courtyard and Arby’s at the Main and Stevens Street intersection.     Bessie E. Cox The memorial service for Bessie E. Cox, 99, Pullman, was Wednesday, May 11, at the Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Pullman. Graveside services at the Pullman Cemetery preceded the memorial service. Mrs. Cox died Friday, May 6, 2011, at Bishop Place Assisted Living Center in Pullman where she had resided since May of 2008.
