    Colfax golfers Tuesday topped seven team scores with a 400 to lead action at Colville Tuesday. Hunter Weitze again led the Bulldogs golfers with a 71 on the Colville course Other scores for the Colfax card were Chance Weitze 75, Kasey Johnson 79, Cody Gronning 85, and Bennett Gray 90.     Colton avoided a rainout and swept a doubleheader against Garfield-Palouse April 11 to remain unbeaten in the Southeast 1B league.     The Colfax baseball team took two wins Tuesday in the league's longest road trip to Kettle Falls to advance the win string in the NE league to 10-0. The Bulldogs are now at the halfway point in the league campaign with the Wilbur/Creston Wildcats due in town Saturday to play a double bill started at noon at McDonald. Cofax Tuesday defeated Kettle Falls in two seven inning games at Kettle. Scores were 11-3 and 13-2.     Colfax seniors Josh Brown and Sam Dailey cranked it up a notch Tuesday for big wins in a giant 2B NE track meet at the new Ritzville track.     The Garfield-Palouse softball team traveled to Kendrick Tuesday night for a 26-16 loss. "I thought our girls did very well," said Coach Phil Weagraff. "We have very young pitching. They just need to get dialed into the strike zone." On the mound for the Vikings were senior Bri Brown and eighth-grader Keely Burns.     The Colfax softball team rolled all the way to Kettle Falls Tuesday and pegged a double win over the K-dogs, one of the expected contenders in the NE League. Kettle hosted with just one defeat in the league run, a split with Northwest Christian Tuesday's double win at Kettle moved the Colfax record to 8-0. They stopped Springdale, another top NE team, with two wins at McDonald Park last Friday.     The Colton softball team pulled off two narrow escapes this week with extra inning victories over Orofino and Asotin. Playing at home vs. Orofino Monday for a doubleheader, the Wildcats lead 7-0 in the fifth inning before the visitors came back to tie the game at seven. Into the extra eighth inning, Orofino scored to go up 8-7 before Colton came to the plate again.     Gerald Robinson, 62, Garfield area farmer, was fatally injured in a farming accident Monday afternoon just south of Garfield. Robinson was flown by MedStar helicopter to Providence Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane where he died from injuries sustained in the accident.     Teams of horses and mules can be seen working the land at the Old Time Farming Days Plowing Bee next to the Palouse Empire Fairground this weekend. Starting Saturday, April 18, at about 10 a.m., teams will begin spreading dry fertilizer on the ground and then plow. After smoothing the ground to get it ready for seeding, the teams will then pull spring tooth and harrow equipment over it and then seed it.   • Inattentive driving caused fatality

    The cause of the April 4 accident that took the life of Dina Williamson, 27, WSU graduate student who resided in Colfax, was believed to be probable inattentive driving, according to a report issued Tuesday by Whitman County Coroner Pete Martin. He said the investigation determined that Williamson, who was killed in the accident, drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic as she was driving northbound at 8:51 p.m. while driving a 2003 Ford Focus.
