COLFAX — The Port of Whitman County is analyzing siting options for an Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the Port of Whitman County Business Air Center, Colfax Airport Access Road.

Port Commissioners accepted a $46,962 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program during the Thursday, Aug. 1, regular meeting to pursue analysis.

According to a press release from the Port of Whitman County, the Air Center currently lacks a weather reporting station, the closest station is located at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport approximately 16 miles southeast.
