NOTICE OF A DETERMINATION OF NONSIGNIFICANCE (DNS) AND BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT HEARING FOR CONDITIONAL USE AND VARIANCE PERMITS

Whitman County Planning issued a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) under the State Environmental Policy Act Rules (Chapter 197-11 WAC) for the following project:

Dan & Brandy Brown have applied for a conditional use permit to operate Buck Canyon Barn, an event venue for community festivals and dryland RV camping, to occur annually from April to October at 39802 SR 195, Colfax, WA 99111, in the Agricultural District.

After reviewing a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with the Planning Office, it has been determined that this proposal will not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment.

Naomi Allan has applied for a variance permit in the Agricultural District to construct a new residence within 1,500 feet of another residence off Old Moscow Road in the SE ¼ of Section 11, Township 14N., Range 45E., W. M., Whitman County, Washington. New residences are exempt from the viewshed rule when built on parcels of land that have not been altered since 2007.

The public is notified of the aforementioned conditional use and variance hearing requests in front of the Board of Adjustment on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 7 PM in the Public Service Building, 1st floor auditorium, N. 310 Main St., Colfax, WA 99111. Virtual attendance is available through ZOOM.

Copies of the DNS are available at no charge from the County Planning Office, Whitman County Public Service Building (2nd Floor), N. 310 Main St., Colfax, WA 99111. Interested persons may submit environmentally-focused written comments on the SEPA decision by 5:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2024, and before 5:00 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2024, regarding the proposed zoning actions to the County Planning Office, P.O.
