Police K-9 Visits Colfax branch of library

Children introduced to new State Trooper K-9 "Ginger"

COLFAX–– The Whitman County Library hosted its second to last Third Thursday Event for the season on Thursday, April 20.

Washington State Patrol, the Colfax Police Department, and a K-9 unit came to introduce young children to a police vehicle, Ginger, the K-9 dog, and open conversations with Officer Blood and others.

"We had them talk about the program, and they obviously got to pet the dogs and learn," said Whitman County Library Executive Director Cody Allen. "Officer Randy from WA State Patrol showed us how the dog is trained with words and the commands with Ginger. It was a lot of fun seeing the kids in the cars. Everyone was having a good time."

The last Third Thursday Event of the season is planned for Thursday, May 18, for Music and Fun with Eric Herman.

"We take a break for the summer. We are gearing up for our summer reading program. It'll return in the fall. We have prizes and a lot of stuff going on," Allen added.
