March 11, 1958 - March 8, 2023
March 16, 2023
Joe Morris, lifelong Colfax resident, died suddenly at his Colfax home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. He was just three days shy of his 65th birthday.
A private family service will be held on Saturday, March 11th, followed by a Celebration of Life for friends and family from 2 – 8 p.m. at Billy's Shop on Crumbaker Road.
Joe was born March 11, 1958; the fourth of six children born to Gerald and Annalee Silvey Morris. He grew up around Colfax where he played football in high school and was a talented drummer in the band. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1976.
Joe loved anything with a motor in it and he could often be found riding motor bikes, snowmobiles, or boating. Starting in high school, he worked several years for Kroll Machinery in Colfax. He could tear anything apart and put it back together again.
Joe married Shona Watts in 1979. They had two sons, Jake and Adam. Joe loved spending time with his boys, especially when it included the outdoors. When they weren't riding bikes or boats the family would often spend time helping at the family farm. He had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. Over the years Joe had the opportunity to spend quality time with all types of children and he was so good with them. All of his grandchildren; and there are many, each call him PAPA JOE. He was very proud of his family and seeing the grandkids always seemed to put a smile on his face.
Beginning in 1981 Joe worked for Arrow Machinery as their parts manager. He was well respected and well known by many of the farmers that called on his expertise. Joe left Pape' Machinery in 2014 and worked at the NAPA Auto Parts store in Colfax until retiring in 2020. Medical issues have slowed him down in more recent years but his spirit remained strong. Stubborn as always.
Sixteen years ago, Joe met Wendy Folsom while arguing with her at the Eagles Lodge in Colfax. The two have been together since and have enjoyed many fun trips to the river which they dubbed "boating camp" or with family. He loved her kids and especially the grandkids as his own and would do anything for them. Wendy has taken great care of Joe in these last years of hardship and their love for each other was evident to all who knew them.
Joe will be missed by many in the community; but especially by his family. He leaves behind his best friend of the last 16 years, Wendy Folsom, at their Colfax home; two sons, Jake (Erica) Morris of Aubrey, Texas, and Adam Morris of Pullman; three grandchildren, Kinsey, Wells, and Cohen; his mother, Annalee Morris of Kennewick; siblings, Tom (Marcia) Morris of Spokane, Sandi Morris, Yakima, Elaine (Don) McClintock, Colfax, Billy (Charee) Morris, Colfax, and Chris (Paige) Morris of Pasco; as well as numerous "grandkids", friends, and others that he loved so much.
