Susan LaFaye (Whitney) Leinweber, of Colfax, Wash., passed away on Dec. 6, 2022, at Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics, surrounded by her family.

Susan was born November 30, 1943, in McCall, Idaho, to Allen R. and Lela Pearl (Zipse) Whitney. When she was 11 the family moved to Colfax where she attended school. This was where she met Howard Leinweber. On April 18, 1960, they were married in Couer d' Alene, Idaho.

She was a homemaker for many yeras. After her youngest child entered school, Susan entered the working world. She started at the nursing home as a medical records clerk, then enjoyed time spend working at Roger Bros. Seed Company, Fonks, and Top Notch Cafe.

She loved to garden, read and do crafts. A clean home was also a point of pride for mom, as well as a beautiful yard. During the holidays trays of Christmas cookies surrounded the dinning room table.

Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was very important to her.

Susan is survived by her children: Howie Leinweber (Deanna), Colfax, Joe Leinweber (Jill Suess) Steptoe, Brenda Olson (Mel), Davenport; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sister Judy Hubbard of Spokane, and longtime friend Duke Bennett of Otis Orchards.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband Howard; brothers Allen, Bob and Nick Whitney; and her sister Nona Utke.

There will be a celebration of Sue's life in the spring with family and friends.
