Intersections closed for roundabout work, paving

PULLMAN — Roundabout construction will close the intersection of Terre View Drive, Northwood Drive and North Fairway Road through Aug. 11.

Work began Tuesday on the final paving of the roundabout. Paving is expected to finish on the morning of August 11.

Closing the entire intersection comes with benefits, city Public Works Director Shawn Kohtz said.

“Compressing the paving process made the most sense for the Terre View roundabout because it helps us trim the project timeline, open a largely-completed roundabout prior to WSU student move-in, and produce a stronger surface in high-traffic location,” he said.

Fire District No. 4, city of Palouse ban burning

PALOUSE — Effective immediately, outdoor burning is banned withing Fire District No. 4, including the city. The ban is in effect until further notice, officials said.

Gas and charcoal barbecues, gas fire pits and pellet grills/smokers are allowed.

City seeks to fill vacant seats on commissions

PULLMAN – The city is seeking applicants for vacancies under any of the following, Civil Service Commission, Planning Commission and Police Advisory Committee.

Committee members work with policy-makers, providing essential support and insight.

Commitment typically involves one meeting per month at City Hall.

The Civil Service Commission meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 a.m., Planning Commission the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. and Police Advisory Committee on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Palouse skips some water meters

PALOUSE – Due to staffing shortages, not all water meters were read in the city.

As a result, some ratepayers may see overage charges on their bill next month, City Administrator Misty La Follett said.
