New diner opens in Tekoa

TEKOA - A father-daughter team has opened a new diner here.

Jeff Lohmiller, 61, and Crystal Taylor, 40, officially opened the doors of Frostys Diner at 205 N. Crosby St. on Friday, July 1.

The new diner serves burgers, sandwiches, breakfast and more.

Taylor and Lohmiller are still sorting out hours and are looking for a cook.

"We just wanted to bring back a family affordable diner to town," Taylor said. "The community has been very welcoming and very supportive."

The diner was named after Taylor's grandfather who previously owned a drive-in called Frostys Drive-In.

"He passed away last year, so we named it after him," Taylor said.

Lohmiller has lived in Tekoa for 10 years and retired from the railroad business years prior.

Taylor previously was employed as a division manager at a casino.

"The old diner in Tekoa has been empty for years," she said. "I run the business and my dad cooks for me.

"He really needed a hobby," noted Taylor.
