LaCrosse man shoots himself

LaCROSSE — A local man accidentally shot himself at about 8 a.m. May 16.

At approximately 8 a.m., deputies from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office and local EMT’S responded to a reported gunshot wound.

The incident is believed to have occurred when the injured man was cleaning and dissembling his fire arm, a 9 mm handgun, the Sheriff’s Office reported. During the process, the firearm discharged and struck him in the leg.

LifeFlight airlifted the man to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane with non-life threatening injuries.
