U.S. FLAGS
Superintendent Phillips Suggest Moderate
Expenditures
Since the law went into effect requiring boards of directors to procure a United States flag and to display the same up on or near each public school building during school hours, there has been a number of circular letter sent to school boards pricing flags from three to twenty dollars.
Now I would like to see some uniformity in this matter as to the size, quality and price of the flags that are to be displayed up the public school house of Whitman County. It is not necessary that these flags be either large or costly. Many districts already have nice flags which I think should be displayed up such commemorable occasions as are calculated to enthuse patriotism, but I think it would be height of folly to float them continuously during school hours to be in a few weeks whipped into shreds by the wind.
