Ng named 'Distinguished' woman

COLFAX – Olivia Ng was crowned the Distinguished Young Woman of Colfax for 2023 during a contest March 19.

The daughter of Eddy and Molly Ng, she was selected from among four contestants.

"Our program was a great success thanks to a large team of volunteers and a wonderfully supportive community," spokeswoman Joanne Eng said.

Money for scholarships is generated through community and Colfax business donations and ticket sales for the annual event.

Olivia Ng received the most scholarships.

She received $1,000 for being the Distinguished Young Woman of Colfax, $250 for the interview competition, $150 for fitness, $200 for playing the piano, and $150 for self-expression. She is going to college with $1,750.

Cadence Monson earned $650 in scholarship money for being the second alternate for the Distinguished Young Woman of Colfax ($400) and the scholastic award ($250).

She is the daughter of Kent and Jessica Monson.

Ellie Nails received $600 for being the first alternate.

She is the daughter of David and Lori Nails.

Kendall Clinton received a $200 scholarship for the Spirit of Distinguished Young Woman of Colfax award.

Clinton is the daughter of Mark and Cheryl Clinton.
