Food for Fines raises $3,100

COLFAX – The Whitman County Library District collected more than $3,100 worth of food and items during its 24th annual Food for Fines in February.
Instead of paying cash for library fines, readers were able to pay in non-perishable food or household items. Cash donations were also accepted. Only 5% of the donations were in exchange for library fees, officials said, noting 72 readers participated.
The Colfax branch received $2,515 in monetary donations to benefit the Colfax Food Pantry.
