Drug bust produces stolen property

Deputies recover missing items from Clarkston burglaries

COLFAX – Packaged methamphetamine and stolen items were found inside a vehicle stopped by Whitman County sheriff’s deputies on Jan. 25.

Deputies stopped the vehicle for a licensing violation near Red Wolf Bridge on State Highway 128 in southern Whitman County.

The vehicle matched a description of one involved in a Uniontown burglary attempt a week earlier, according to Sheriff Brett Myers.

The driver, Randy Skalicky, 30, of Lewiston, Idaho, spoke to deputies and allegedly admitted to the attempted burglary.

“He also told the deputy he had drug addiction issues, which caused him to steal,” Myers said.

While Skalicky was speaking to a deputy, another deputy reported seeing various items suspected of being stolen. Skalicky allegedly gave permission to search his vehicle.

“Numerous items of stolen property were discovered as well as a small quantity of packaged methamphetamine,” Myers said.

Deputies confirmed several items were from recent burglaries in the Clarkston area.

Some of the items identified were reportedly taken from the offices of the U.S. Geological Survey and the state Department of Fish and Game.

“Skalicky later told deputies that he had additional property back in his hotel room, which he indicated came from burglaries in the Lewiston area,” Myers said.

Lewiston police are helping investigate the stolen property from Idaho.

Skalicky was booked into the Whitman County Jail for possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of stolen property, attempted theft in the third degree, possession of a fictitious license plate, and driving while license suspended.

The investigation continues.

Skalicky has several prior convictions in Idaho for property crime and drugs.
