Bonita Thelma Roberts

Bonita "Bonnie" Thelma Roberts passed away on Jan. 21, 2022, in Spokane, Wash., at the age of 101 years old. She was born on Nov. 26, 1920, in Diamond, Wash., to Julius and Katherine (Jinderlee) Guske.

Bonnie grew up living in Diamond and attended elementary school in Diamond. She graduated high school from Colfax with the class of 1938. She went on to attend Washington State College pursuing a degree in home economics.

She married Byron "Doc" Henry in 1941. They made their home in St. John where they welcomed their three children together, Julie, Ruth, and Byron. Byron "Doc" passed away in 1961. She married Sherman Ward and together they made their home in St. John. He passed away in 1980. In 1984 she married Ira Roberts and they made their home in Colfax.

Bonnie owned and operated her own clothing store located in St. John called, "Bonnie's." She was a very strong and smart lady; running her own business while taking care of her three children. Bonnie enjoyed playing bridge and was an excellent seamstress. She stayed active cooking and baking, was an avid golfer and was a member of the Eastern Star.

Bonnie is survived by her two children; Ruth (Gary) Uznay of Addy, WA, and Byron (Sheryl) Henry of Spokane, WA, her grandchildren; Cheryl (Jaque) Chardonnay, Vicki Lee Freier, Kim (Duane) Sutton, Barbie (George) Larson, Kurtis (Angie) Gould, Christine (Ty) Mallery, and Bryon R. (Brandon) Henry, as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and her loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Julie Freier, sister, Vivian Smith, and her husbands, Byron, Sherman, and Ira.

Visitation hours will be at Corbeill Funeral Home in Colfax on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A family graveside service will be on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Corbeill Funeral Homes in Colfax is caring for the family.
