Sandra L. Peterson

Oct. 9, 1948 – Nov. 12, 2021

Sandra L. Peterson, 73, passed away on November 12, 2021 at The Courtyard in Colfax, Washington. She was born on October 9, 1948 to Del and Laurie (Cotant) Pool in Colfax, Washington. Sandi graduated from Colfax High School in 1966, where she was a Majorette and was in the Pep Band. After attending Wenatchee Valley College and touring Europe she moved to Seattle and worked as a secretary.

While working in Seattle she met Art Peterson and on September 5, 1970 they were married in Colfax, Wash. She was very proud to have served the first chocolate wedding cake in Colfax. Sandi and Art celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2020. Together they raised two daughters, Lisa and Laura and hosted three exchange students over the years, Masayo, Pat and Clare.

The Petersons moved to Pasco, Washington in 1971. Sandi soon was an active member of the Newcomer's Club, Kennewick 1st United Methodist Church, Columbia Valley Grange #938. She also taught macrame and cake decorating for Pasco Parks and Recreation. Art and Sandi owned and worked together in their business, Art Peterson Insurance for 38 years. They enjoyed traveling to Seattle for Grange Insurance Association Board Meetings and representing Grange insurance at NAMIC (National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies) around the USA and Canada.

Sandi was a lifetime member of Columbia Valley Grange #938 in Pasco and had recently received her 50-year member certificate and pin. She was one of the Columbia Jr Grange #212 Leaders for 30+ years, teaching arts and crafts to countless Columbia Valley Jr Grange #212 members and at Wooten Jr Grange Camp. Sandi and Art co-chaired the Columbia Valley Grange food booth at the Benton-Franklin County Fair for over 30 years. It was the Grange's largest fundraiser and allowed the Grange to build its new hall in 1997.

Sandi loved working with kids and "adopted" many of her daughters' friends and countless Jr Grangers over the years. Their house was often full of kids doing crafts, swimming, and baking for the Jr Grange baking contest each year. Sandi was an animal lover and adopted many cats and dogs over the years.

Sandi and Art lived in Pasco for 48 years before moving to Colfax in March 2020 to be closer to their daughter, Laura. She loved being closer to Laura and most of all her grandson, Jacob. He was the light of her life and she was the best grandma!

Sandi is survived by her daughters, Lisa Peterson, Laura (Scott) Lyle and grandson, Jacob Lyle. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon (Alan) Steiger, Shirley Walker, three nieces and one nephew. Sandi is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. Peterson and parents, Del and Laurie Pool.

The Celebration of Life will be held on December 17, 2021 from 1pm-4pm at Columbia Valley Grange #938, 6300 W. Court St, Pasco, Washington.

The family would like to thank Dr. Candelaria, The Courtyard staff and Hospice for taking excellent care of Sandi. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Wooten Jr Grange, PO Box 3033, Pasco, WA 99302 or an animal shelter of your choice.
