Tekoa seeks new councilmember

TEKOA — Tekoa seeks a new councilmember to replace John Jaeger after he resigned.

Jaeger served 15 years as a councilmember and mayor.

Anyone wishing to serve as a Tekoa councilmember can fill an application at city hall during business hours. Applications are to be reviewed and voted on by the city council to determine an appointee.

The deadline for applications is open until filled.

“We don’t have anybody to appoint,” said Deputy Clerk for City of Tekoa DonNell Ellsworth. “Not for lack of trying.”

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and a resident of Tekoa.

Councilmembers receive a $40 monthly stipend to attend two meetings a month.

The person chosen fulfills the two-year term until it ends on Dec. 31, 2023.

For more information, call 509-284-3861.

To fill an application, the city hall is located at 419 Washington Street.
