WDFW opens lands in Eastern Washington
Hours extended to help early morning hunters

OLYMPIA - Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife areas in eastern Washington are open for extended day-use hours.
Open hours are 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting on Sept. 1.
The state agency closed the lands in July to overnight use due to potential wildland fire.
"We're extending day-use hours to make destinations accessible for hunters heading out early in the day," said Paul Dahmer, WDFW land stewardship and operations manager. "However, the overnight camping closure and campfire ban are still in effect until the fire risk decreases, and we encourage everyone to recreate responsibly."
The ban includes campfires, including those in fire rings, smoking except inside vehicles, discharging firearms unless hunting, welding or using a chainsaw, and driving vehicles, or riding motorcycles off roads.
Personal camp stoves and lanterns fueled by propane, liquid petroleum, or liquid petroleum gas are allowed.
Ignoring the ban can result in a ticket and fine.
WDFW stewards more than 700,000 acres of public land in Eastern Washington, which are managed to protect lands and water for wildlife and people.
