Presentation offered on Washington earthquakes

RITZVILLE — Information on two big earthquakes in Eastern Washington is presented on Sept. 30 in Ritzville.

“Many of us have heard about ‘the big one’” that will someday happen in western Washington, but earthquakes happen in Eastern Washington too. Two of the major, historically recorded earthquakes happened in Eastern Washington,” said Lloyd Stoess, chapter president for the Ice Age Floods Institute – Palouse Falls Chapter.

The free program offers information on the earthquakes, why they happen, the effect of ice-age deposits, and how to prepare for the next big one.
