COLFAX — A 4-month-old was stuck in a locked car at Schmuck Park in Colfax, but not in danger.

“It was cool that morning and the child was not in distress,” said Colfax police Chief Bruce Blood. “If it had been hot, we would have broken the window.”

The mother called for help after accidentally locking the car with the infant inside at about 11 a.m. on Aug. 18. The family was at the park to have a picnic.

“When I got there it wasn’t even crying,” said Blood. “The mother was upset the vehicle was locked … but it was fairly cool out.”
