Girl hospitalized for dog bite

TEKOA — A 10-year-old Tekoa girl required surgery for a dog bite on Aug. 18.

The girls went to a home on North Ramsey Street to play with a friend, said Whitman County Undersheriff Chris Chapman.

When she entered the yard, an older black and white border collie met her and bit her in the arm. She was tended to by Tekoa EMTs and taken to Whitman Hospital in Colfax, where she reportedly required minor surgery on her triceps.

The dog’s owner was not issued a ticket for the attack, said Chapman.

“The owners’ are taking responsibility,” he said.
