Farmers' dust cloud triggers collisions

COLFAX — A farmer tilling along Colfax Airport Road created a cloud of dust obscuring a driver’s vision, leading to three-vehicle collision on Aug. 19.

The wind shifted to blow the dust across the road near the intersection with Duncan Springs Road, according to Whitman County Undersheriff Chris Chapman.

Nannette Kistler, 56, of Brush Prairie, slowed her tan 2002 Chevrolet Suburban because of a sudden lack of visibility. Marisa Buelna, 20, of Pullman, rear-ended the SUV with her silver 2013 VW Golf, which was then rear-ended by a blue 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Daniel Chun, 63, of Issaquah...
