Joann Barry

Joann Barry

She was born in LaCrosse on April 13, 1930. She lived there her entire life other than the first seven years of her 54-year marriage to Franklyn "Pinky" Barry, when they lived near Hooper in the Palouse River Valley. Allthough she was a devoted Christian all her life, she pondered the possibility of reincarnation. She said that if she ever came back, she wanted to be a Red-Tailed Hawk, remembering her enjoyment of watching them soar over the river valley. We will never see a Red-Tailed Hawk soar without thinking of her. She was a great lover of music, which was part of her attraction to her husband, and a very well-read lover of literature.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents Albert Ping and Lucy (Mattus) Ping, and her brother Ron Ping. She is survived by her sons Rod (Debbie) Barry, Kettle Falls, and Kevin Barry, Goldendale; her granddaughters Shannon Barry, Seattle, and Bridget Barry(Brady Reichert), Othello; her brothers Donald (Marie) Ping, LaCrosse, and Vic (Lois) Ping, Walla Walla, her sister, Jeanette Ping, LaCrosse; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

A graveside service in her memory will be held at the LaCrosse Cemetery on August 3, at 10:30 AM.
