New state record for tiger trout

LOON LAKE — A new state record for tiger trout has been set at 24.49 pounds.

The fish was caught at Loon Lake north of Spokane.

Caylun Peterson caught it on June 26 with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife later confirming the record.

The previous record was 18.49 pounds, set in 2015 at Bonaparte Lake in Okanogan County.

Look Lake is stocked with 10,000 tiger trout annually in the fall.
