Whitman County unemployment rate at 4.2%

OLYMPIA — The May unemployment report was released today with Whitman County at 4.2%, among the lowest in Washington.

The numbers are according to the Washington State Employment Security Department.

The highest rate was 7.7% in Pacific County on the southern coast, while the lowest was Asotin County at 3.8%.

Statewide, Washington’s economy added 8,300 jobs in May, decreasing the overall unemployment rate to 5.3%.
