KETTLE FALLS — The Colfax High School girls basketball team took the bus to Kettle Falls on Tuesday and the ride back seemed longer than the three hours to get there.

Colfax lost 50-40, ending their season.

"We had good shots. We had shots in rhythm, but after shooting so well all season, we just did not shoot the ball well these last couple games," said Colfax Coach Mike Dorman.

Junior guard Asher Cai scored 21 points while Justice Brown scored 6. The team shot 12-for-57 from the field and 4-for-20 in 3-point attempts.

Colfax never led in the game, trailing by 6 at halftime and 8 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth, with just over two minutes left, the Bulldogs cut it to 4 points.

"Every time we got it down to 4-5, they would hit a kind of a back-breaker shot," said Dorman.

The first-round playoff loss concludes the Colfax season at 7-5.

"The girls were pretty stung," said Dorman. "But I can't say enough about their effort this year. They left it on the court. We gave it everything we had, but just didn't quite have enough."

Kettle Falls also beat the Bulldogs in their first game of the year, though Colfax was without leading scorer Cai.
