Darla Irwin

July 17, 1961 – May 25, 2021

Born July 17, 1961, in Deer Park, Wash., to George and Delores (Marple) Hager, Darla (Hager) Irwin passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, after suffering a long battle with Kidney disease.

A Riverside High School Graduate from the Class of 1979, Darla went on to EWU, graduating in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television and Communications. She worked at the Spokane Valley Herald in Advertising and then moved into what became a very rewarding career with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture until her retirement. A woman of strong Christian faith, Darla was a member of Mission Church. Her great sense of humor and quick wit made every one laugh. She cherished the time spent with her family and life-long friends Pam, Debbie and Patty, as well as many others, and she enjoyed volunteering for her friend, Dixie, and Dixie's first grade class. Darla was a person who was a lot of fun. She loved horses, dogs, knitting and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Delores (Marple) Hager and one sister Sharlyn (Hager) Spencer. Darla is survived by one brother Roger Hager (Sheri Hatley); two sisters Marcene Reese (Tim), Lynette Bronkhorst (Chuck), several nieces and nephews.

As Darla had been a kidney recipient for 16 years, the family requests, in lieu of flowers, you consider giving someone hope and register as an Organ Donor.

The Memorial Service and Reception is scheduled for Friday, June 25, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 North Pines Road, Spokane Valley, Wash.
