Clarkston man allegedly beat woman over $20

COLTON — A woman said she was kidnapped and beaten because she wouldn’t give a Clarkston man $20.

A landowner called the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office on May 30 when he found a vehicle parked with a man and a woman passed out inside at around 11:30 p.m. It was on his property near the Wawawai County Park, which is on the Snake River, northwest of Colton.

Deputies arrived, found the vehicle, and spoke to the people in the vehicle.

“After speaking with the female, she said she had been kidnapped and brought to the current location the night before,” stated Sgt. Dan Brown, of the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.

“The female said she was physically assaulted, choked and the male threatened to kill her because she would not give the male $20.”

The man and the woman knew each other and the evening started at the Clearwater River Casino, near Lewiston, Idaho.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries, stated Brown.

Mathew A. Pilkington, 32, on Clarkston, was arrested for assault in the second degree, kidnapping in the first degree, harassment with threats to kill, and trespassing in the second degree. He was booked into the Whitman County Jail.
